Conventional Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are the most common and cost-effective type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before as they are smaller, rounded off and less irritating the mouth. They are commonly used for NHS patients and made of stainless steel; metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding coloured elastics modules (ligatures) for a more unique and colourful smile. They function by attaching brackets to your teeth which are joined together by an archwire. A sequence of different sized wires (from very light nickel-titanium wires to strong stainless steel wires) are used and this gradually moves your teeth into the right position.
Mini Metal Braces
Smaller braces enhance comfort and aesthetics. Mini braces are nearly 30 percent smaller than traditional metal dental braces. They are less noticeable, easier to keep clean and produce less discomfort to the inside of your mouth. They are made of a stronger grade of stainless steel than their larger counterparts, so you would not sacrifice strength for size.
